I was in Poughkeepsie for a Doctor's appointment and wanted to get a quick lunch somewhere close by. I found Vera pizza on line. It looked good and was less than a mile from the doctor. I wanted pizza but when I got there and saw how reasonable the prices were I ordered the Eggplant Rolotini dinner with a side of Garlic Knots. The Dinner came with Bread and Salad, the portion was huge and it was $13. The garlic knots were so soft and really tasty. The Marinara sauce was excellent. It was a beautiful day so I sat outside at a picnic table. They brought everything out to me when it was ready. The owners and staff were very nice, efficient and accomodating. I will definitely be returning when I'm in Poughkeepsie!

Pizza was delicious, everything pizza should be. My only complaint is the Pasta Fagioli, which is supposed to be a hearty soup made from red sauce, was basically paste. It was grey with shreds of penne pasta, not 1 was whole, and it tasted as if they had blended the beans to make the base, not a touch of seasoning or red sauce. The container was also less than halfway full. The pizza and the fried dough were 10/10

The pizza from Vera's is not always consistent, but when it's good, it's really good. The crust is crispy and the cheese is melty, like a quintessential NY style pizza should be. I just wish this was the case with EVERY pizza I order from them
